X (Twitter) character counter and post preview

X caps posts at 280 characters, but it doesn't weigh every character the same. Emoji count as 2, Chinese, Japanese and Korean characters count as 2, and a link counts as 23 however long it is. Paste your post to see the count X will use and a preview of how the post lays out.

FAQ

Why does my post count higher here than in a word counter?
X counts each emoji as 2 characters and every link as 23. A plain counter counts what you see.
Do @mentions count?
@mentions that X adds automatically at the start of a reply don't count. Any @mention you type in the body does.
Is the preview exactly what X will show?
It's a mock-up built from X's counting rules, so line breaks and link length match. Fonts and spacing vary by device.
Can I post more than 280 characters?
X Help says Premium subscribers can post up to 25,000 characters. This counter checks against 280.
