Guide
How to schedule X posts and tweets (and what to use without X Pro)
X's own scheduler is in X Pro, the tool formerly called TweetDeck. X's Help Center lists X Pro as a Premium+ feature, and it can schedule posts for every account you manage there. This guide covers the X Pro steps, how to find and edit scheduled posts, what X Pro can't schedule, how to schedule tweets for free with another tool, and how to have an AI agent like Claude schedule them. Every post your agent schedules stays pending until it's approved.
Can you schedule tweets on X?
Yes, in three ways:
- X Pro. X's Help Center documents post scheduling in X Pro (formerly TweetDeck), including for several accounts. X Pro is a Premium+ feature.
- A scheduling tool. Tools such as UniPost connect to your X account and publish at the time you pick, from the same place as your other networks.
- An AI agent. Claude, ChatGPT, and other agents can schedule X posts once they're connected to an MCP server that can publish. With UniPost, every post your agent schedules stays pending until it's approved.
X's How to Post page for x.com and the X apps doesn't describe a scheduling option. If your composer shows one, X's help pages don't cover it yet.
How to schedule a post in X Pro
In X Pro:
- 1
Sign in to X Pro and click Post.
- 2
Confirm the X account you want to post from is selected.
- 3
Write your post. To add an image or video, click Add images or video.
- 4
Click Schedule post and pick the date and time.
- 5
Click Schedule post at [your date and time].
If you manage several X accounts in X Pro, you can schedule posts for each of them. To add one, click your profile photo, then Manage accounts and Add an existing account.
In a shared or work setup, everyone with access to your X Pro can see the scheduled posts for every connected account. To let teammates schedule without sharing a password, X's Delegate feature lets owners, admins, and contributors schedule posts for an account. You turn Delegate on and invite people on x.com.
Where to find and edit scheduled posts in X Pro
Add a Scheduled column in X Pro. It lists your scheduled posts, and you can view and edit them there.
To add a column, click the plus icon in the navigation bar and choose Add column, or press A.
What X Pro's scheduler can't do
- Work without Premium+. X's Premium page lists X Pro access under Premium+ only.
- Schedule Direct Messages or longer posts on the web. X Pro doesn't schedule Direct Messages, and X says you can't schedule a longer post on the web.
X scheduling not working?
Check these first:
- You're not in X Pro. X's Help Center documents scheduling only in X Pro.
- Your plan doesn't include X Pro. X lists it as a Premium+ feature. X Premium is now part of The X Subscription, so check which plan you're on.
- The post is a longer post or a DM. Neither can be scheduled (see above).
- The wrong account is selected. With several accounts in X Pro, confirm the one you're posting from before you schedule.
How to schedule tweets for free
UniPost gives you 2 connected accounts free, with no credit card. An X account is one account, so you can schedule to X and one more account, such as a LinkedIn profile, without paying. To schedule from the dashboard:
- Create a free UniPost account and connect your X account. X's own sign-in page asks you to allow posting; UniPost never sees your password.
- Choose Create post, select your X account, and write the post. You can add up to 4 images, or one video.
- Pick a time at least 15 minutes from now and choose Schedule post, or choose Post now.
X charges for each post, so X posts use credits. A plain post uses 1 and a post with a link uses 13. Free accounts get 10 credits a month, and each X account can post up to 10 times an hour and 25 times a day.
On free accounts, one post with a link (13 credits) is more than the monthly allowance (10), so plan on plain posts, or pay for accounts to post links.
After the free accounts: The first 2 are free, then $3, $1, and $0.50 each as you add more. Paying for accounts raises the X allowance to 50 credits for each of your first 10 X accounts, then 20 each. See /pricing.
Schedule tweets from Claude or another AI agent
An agent can't post to X on its own. Connect it to an MCP server that can publish, and it can write the post and schedule it too. UniPost is one such server.
With UniPost:
- Connect your X account to UniPost, then add UniPost to your agent: /agents/claude, /agents/chatgpt, /agents/grok-bot, /agents/cursor.
- Ask: "Write a short X post about our launch for tomorrow at 10 a.m. Check my X credits first, and show me the post before you schedule it."
- The agent checks your credits with get_x_allowance and schedules the post, up to a year ahead. Every post your agent schedules stays pending until it's approved. You can approve it in three ways: the approval link, the dashboard, or your agent.
- Once approved, the post goes out at the time you set, or right away if that time has passed. Its X credits are counted when it publishes.
Your agent can approve a post it scheduled for you, so tell it to show you the full text, images, and time first. UniPost's server instructions tell agents never to approve a post you haven't seen and agreed to. If a teammate's agent created the post, your agent can't approve it; it has to be approved through the link. When your agent attaches media, it passes public https links: JPEG, PNG, GIF, or WebP images, or MP4, MOV, or WebM video. How approval works: /docs/publishing/schedule-and-approve. X MCP server: /mcp/x. Every network: /social-media-mcp-server.
Choosing an X scheduler
Check four things before you pick one:
- Does it post to X at all? Not every scheduler does. Later's networks: No X or Bluesky.
- What the free plan covers. Publer's free plan: Yes: 3 accounts (not X), 10 scheduled posts each, 1 user. Buffer's free plan: Yes: 3 channels, 10 scheduled posts each, 1 user. UniPost: 2 free accounts, no credit card.
- Approvals. If an agent or a teammate drafts the posts, check whether anything holds a post until someone approves it. With UniPost: Every post your agent schedules stays pending until it's approved. Buffer: Approval workflows on the Team plan. Agent posts go to your Buffer queue, and its create_post tool can also publish immediately.
- Analytics. UniPost doesn't show X analytics, because X doesn't report post views, likes, replies, or reposts to it. If you need numbers for each post, check the tool's X page before you sign up.
To compare UniPost with other schedulers: /vs/buffer, /vs/hootsuite, and /vs/later.

FAQ
- Can you schedule tweets on X for free?
- X's Help Center documents scheduling in X Pro, which it lists as a Premium+ feature. To schedule for free, use a tool with a free tier. UniPost's first 2 connected accounts are free with no credit card, including scheduling from an AI agent. X posts use X credits: 10 a month on free accounts.
- How do I schedule a tweet in X Pro?
- Sign in to X Pro, click Post, confirm the account, and write your post. Click Schedule post, pick the date and time, then click Schedule post at that time.
- Is TweetDeck still around?
- TweetDeck is now X Pro. X's Help Center calls it "X Pro (formerly known as TweetDeck)", and X Pro is where X documents post scheduling.
- Where do I see my scheduled posts in X Pro?
- Add a Scheduled column. You can view and edit your scheduled posts there.
- Can I schedule a thread, a longer post, or a DM?
- Agents can't post threads yet; the dashboard can. X Pro doesn't schedule Direct Messages, and X says you can't schedule a longer post on the web. Your agent schedules single posts. To schedule a thread, write it in the UniPost dashboard, which posts X threads.
- How far ahead can I schedule an X post?
- X's Help Center doesn't say how far ahead X Pro can schedule. Through UniPost, an AI agent can schedule up to a year ahead, and dashboard posts need to be at least 15 minutes out.
- Can Claude or ChatGPT schedule my tweets?
- Yes, once it's connected to an MCP server that can publish to X. UniPost is one. Every post your agent schedules stays pending until it's approved. You can approve it in three ways: the approval link, the dashboard, or your agent. Setup: /agents/claude or /agents/chatgpt. More: /mcp/x.
- Why does a scheduled X post fail on UniPost?
- Usually the X credits ran out or a rate limit was hit. Credits are counted when the post publishes, not when it's scheduled. A post with a link uses 13 credits, and each X account can post up to 10 times an hour and 25 times a day. list_posts shows which posts failed, and get_x_allowance shows the credits you have left.
