A Postiz alternative for AI agents
Looking for a Postiz alternative because your AI agent writes the posts? Postiz is open source, publishes to 30+ networks, and gives agents an MCP server, a CLI and a skill. UniPost publishes to fewer networks, but the first 2 accounts are free and it costs less at every size Postiz sells. Your agent schedules and approves posts through one MCP server, or sends you a review link first.
Choose UniPost if
- Your agent already writes the posts and you want it to schedule and approve them for you, with a review link when you'd rather check one
- You want to start with 2 accounts free and add accounts one at a time
- You post to LinkedIn profiles and X
Choose Postiz if
- You need Facebook, Instagram, Threads, YouTube, Bluesky, Reddit, Pinterest, Mastodon, or Discord, which UniPost doesn't publish to yet
- You want to self-host open-source software
- You want a public REST API, webhooks, or AI image and video generation built in

Postiz alternative for OpenClaw, Claude and other agents
Postiz connects agents three ways: a hosted MCP server, the Postiz CLI, and a skill installed with npx skills add gitroomhq/postiz-agent, which it lists for OpenClaw, Hermes and Codex. UniPost is a hosted MCP server at https://mcp.unipost.ai/mcp. Claude, Claude Code, ChatGPT, Codex, Cursor, Gemini CLI, Grok Bot and other HTTP MCP clients add the URL and sign in with OAuth, or use a workspace API key. Agents that read Markdown skills, such as OpenClaw and Hermes, can install the UniPost skill with npx skills add ajhous44/unipost-agent. It documents the server, the approval rule and every tool. UniPost has no CLI and no separate REST API.
Who stops a bad post from going live?
On Postiz, review happens in its calendar or through a preview link a client can comment on. Its docs say approval is "a conversation, not a state": there is no approved flag that blocks publishing, and the MCP schedule tool can publish right away. On UniPost, every post your agent schedules stays pending until it's approved. You can approve it in three ways: the approval link, the dashboard, or your agent. Your agent can approve a post it scheduled for you, so tell it to show you the full text, images, and time first. UniPost's server instructions tell agents never to approve a post you haven't seen and agreed to. If a teammate's agent created the post, your agent can't approve it; it has to be approved through the link.
Networks: where Postiz is ahead
LinkedIn profiles, X, and TikTok, with Facebook Pages and YouTube in beta. Instagram is coming soon. Postiz publishes to 30+, including Instagram, Threads, Reddit, Pinterest, Bluesky and LinkedIn company pages. If you need one of those today, Postiz is the better pick.
Posting to X from an agent
X charges per post, and more for a post with a link. UniPost counts a plain X post as 1 credit and a link post as 13. The free plan includes 10 credits a month, and paid plans include 50 for each of the first 10 X accounts and 20 for each one after. Your agent can call get_x_allowance to check what's left before it schedules.
Self-hosting and open source
Postiz publishes its code on GitHub under AGPL-3.0, and you can run it with Docker for the cost of your server. You also create a developer app on each network and handle updates, backups and API approvals yourself. Postiz's pricing page calls self-hosting "a secondary option" and says agent features ship first on the hosted version. UniPost is hosted only and isn't open source.

FAQ
- Is there a free Postiz alternative?
- UniPost's first 2 connected accounts are free on the hosted version. Postiz Cloud starts at $29 a month after a 7-day trial, and its self-hosted edition is free if you run the server yourself.
- Does UniPost work with OpenClaw?
- UniPost's docs say agents that read Markdown skills, such as OpenClaw and Hermes, can install the UniPost skill with npx skills add ajhous44/unipost-agent. The skill connects the agent to UniPost's hosted MCP server. UniPost has no CLI, so the agent needs to be able to call a remote MCP server.
- Can my agent publish without me?
- Your agent schedules and can approve its own posts, or sends you a review link first. A teammate's agent can't approve your posts.
- Can UniPost post to Instagram or LinkedIn company pages?
- Not yet. Instagram and LinkedIn company pages are coming soon. Facebook Pages and YouTube are in beta.
- How much is UniPost at 50 accounts compared with Postiz?
- $54 a month, against $99 for Postiz's 100-channel plan, which is the smallest Postiz plan that covers 50.
- Does UniPost have a REST API like Postiz?
- No. The MCP server is the API, over OAuth or a workspace API key. Postiz has a public REST API and webhooks on every plan.
