YouTube banner size checker

YouTube Help sets the minimum banner upload at 2048 x 1152 pixels at 16:9 and recommends 2560 x 1440, especially for TV. At the minimum size, text and logos belong inside a 1235 x 338 pixel safe area, because other screens crop the rest. The file has to be 6 MB or smaller.

How it works

  1. 1

Drop in your banner. The browser reads it, and nothing is uploaded.

  2. 2

The checker compares width, height and file size with YouTube's numbers.

  3. 3

It draws the safe area in the middle. Above the minimum size it's scaled to your image's width and labeled approximate.

  4. 4

You see which checks pass and what sits outside the safe area.
